Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Fresh berries for garnish
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Make the Batter:

    In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

  2. Prepare the Bread:

    If using fresh bread, let it sit out for 30 minutes to slightly dry out.

  3. Soak the Bread:

    Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side.

  4. Cook:

    Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the soaked bread for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  5. Serve:

    Top with maple syrup, fresh berries, and dust with powdered sugar.
